Winter Weather Program
Each year, The Reva and David Logan Foundation aims to help our elders, families, neighbors facing unstable housing, students in temporary living situations, and refugees to survive the cold of the Chicago winter with dignity. Through our Winter Weather program, we provide nonprofit organizations throughout Chicagoland with warm clothing and accessories to distribute to their communities.
In 2024, we helped 59 partner organizations distribute more than $1,400,000 worth of new winter wear to 32 community areas throughout Chicago’s north, central, south, and west sides as well as seven Chicagoland suburbs.

This represents over 23,400 coats, 9,000 pairs of boots, 13,000 hoodies, 8,000 joggers, 6,000 thermal sets, 7,000 pairs of gloves, 4,000 pairs of socks, 4,000 scarves, and 5,000 winter hats. All of the items provided were new, attractive, and high quality.
The need continues to grow. We hope to find other funders who can contribute alongside us in the future, primarily financially, to expand the program. We have done extensive research and know there are many more vulnerable people who we have not yet reached. With additional support, we can leverage our networks to provide resources to thousands more.
A special thanks to the volunteers and community organizers who make the distribution of these items possible.
Words from some of our partners:
Impact Behavioral Health Partners:
On a chilly December day, Impact staff, Nick and Maha, visited The Reva and David Logan Foundation’s storage unit, stacked floor to ceiling with boxes of brand-new winter coats. Thanks to the foundation’s generosity, Impact staff distributed more than 300 coats to participants, that’s in addition to the 200 sets of gloves, scarves, and hats that they provided earlier in the season.
The Connection Center:
Thank you so much for your generous donation of winter gear. It allowed us to assist families in need, and the extra coats were distributed to homeless encampment sites on Christmas Day. Your kindness and generosity never cease to amaze me. I’m also incredibly thankful for the winter gear pop-up sites you organized this year—they made a tremendous impact.
Growing Home:
You have brought hope and comfort to Englewood residents and surrounding communities who were in need of simple winter gear. We hope to continue this relationship and once again appreciate all that you and the foundation has done for us all.
Amazing Community Popups:
Thank you for everything Reva & David Logan Foundation. What a wonderful joyful year this has been. We have served thousands of individuals and families in need thanks to you!
Onward House:
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Reva and David Logan Foundation for their incredible generosity this holiday season! Their donation of 1,400 jackets and 700 pairs of winter boots has provided warmth and comfort to Onward House children and families, ensuring they are prepared for the winter months ahead.
Roswell B. Mason Elementary:
On behalf of Roswell B. Mason Elementary School I would like to thank you and the Reva & David Logan Foundation for all of the donations provided to our school. Our students and their families truly appreciate all that you do. It means a lot for them to have a warm new coat, hats, gloves and boots.
