Southside Center of Hope supports women through recovery from homelessness and substance use disorders in Chicago. Subscribing to a Housing First approach and promoting low-barrier service delivery, the organization operates a 25-unit permanent supportive housing shelter (Independence House) in North Lawndale, in partnership with Interfaith Housing Development Corporation.

Notes: Because SkyART has an established history of working with the South Chicago neighborhood serving schools, libraries, park districts, and other community organizations, we brought both grantee organizations together in hopes that there could be a collaboration. Without this program, the children living in Independence House do not have any programs afforded to them while their mothers are receiving care.
