The mission of Family Matters, established in 1987, is to partner with youth and families in northeast Chicago to address and overcome structural racism and systemic oppression to build an equitable society. Family Matters serves 300 families and 100 youth each year. Youth development (YD) programs offer project-based experiential learning, which includes individualized attention for diverse learners, and ongoing social and emotional learning support.
