Formally established in March 2023 and rooted in the belief in solidarity, not charity, Chicago United Solidarity Project (CUSP) creates radical and regenerative systems of care to meet people’s basic needs, while building solidarity and political power in and across Chicago’s frontline communities. CUSP pursues this vision through mutual aid (resource markets and pantries, crisis and emergency response teams, legal aid, culturally competent health clinics, cash programs for informal workers, housing assistance, and childcare offerings) and community healing spaces (collective organizing, joint struggle campaigns, restorative justice circles, educational workshops, after-school programming, and accessible mental health counseling and services).
