Since 2007, 3Arts has operated as a nonprofit arts service and grantmaking organization and is nationally recognized as one of the most significant artist advocates in the Chicago area, and the only one with a mission that overtly encompasses gender, racial, and disability equity. Its new mission is centered on women artists, artists of color, and Deaf or disabled artists, connecting the roots of the organization with the contemporary needs of artists, while addressing the gaps in support streams in the arts.
