DRIVER on PBS

There are 3.5 million truck drivers across the United States and yet we hardly notice them; we have no idea who delivers our products and what happens to them along the way.

DRIVER, a film by Nesa Azimi funded in part by the Logan Foundation, sheds light on an industry and a workforce that has been invisible for far too long. Through time spent with Desiree and her fellow drivers, we become intimately aware of the quotidian and existential challenges that truck drivers face; their concerns are representative of the broader working-class struggle to earn a living while preserving one’s dignity and independence.

Once a coveted blue-collar job, trucking is today one of the most arduous and least-respected trades. Deregulation of the trucking industry has dramatically depressed driver wages, even as corporate profits have skyrocketed.

DRIVER premieres on PBS on September 1st, and will be available for 60 days. We highly recommend you give it a watch.
